Thursday, Feb 20 - Food Action Collective Social Hour on Students Transforming University Food Policy for Sustainability & Nutrition
Presented by the Food Action Collective (FAC)
Join us for the Food Action Collective's first monthly Talk At The Table at Rogue Hall. Each month, we hope to have a fun, casual get together with a different food related theme to talk about around the table. This month, in tandem with PSUSU's Student Power Convergence Week, we will be talking about strategies for students to organize themselves to make positive changes on their campus, particularly regarding a healthy, sustainable, fair food system. Free food will be provided with vegetarian and vegan options, and if you want to buy a beer (or three) you are welcome (encouraged) to do so. Hope to see you there!
Saturday, Feb 22 - 2nd Annual PSU Student Power Convergence
Presented by the Student Power Convergence Planning Committee & the PSU Student Action Coalition (StAC)
12:00pm-5:00pm, Parkway North, SMSU
Last year, we brought to students from Quebec to speak about the Maple Spring movement that fought against and repealed a 75% tuition hike through a 273,000 student-strong strike. This year's event is being designed as we speak. To get involved in the open Convergence Planning Committee, come to a meeting! Fridays from 4pm-5pm in Greenspace (SMSU 28).
Free vegetarian/vegan lunch, coffee and cookies to be provided by Food for Thought Cafe!
The SPC will be this as a space for us all to build stronger connections between each other, our various student organizations and the causes we're passionate about, while crystalizing the Student Union into a more concrete network of mutual aid and support, communication, and a jumping-off point for shared projects and campaigns.
Where are we now? Where do we want to go? How can we build unity to create the PSU we need and deserve?
*Unfortunately, we've yet again made the same mistake we made last year, scheduling the SPC on the same exact weekend (it's just such a good weekend) as the Oregon Student Association's Northwest Student Leadership Conference. We are very sad about this, however, we're committed to finding ways to help these overlap more, and intend to collaborate with OSA organizers to this end. Stay tuned for updates.
